Our assessments also cater for adults aged 18 and above who may be questioning whether they meet the criteria for an ADHD diagnosis. This could include individuals who:
- Seek clarity on ADHD but are not yet ready to explore medication options.
- Require a comprehensive report or further evidence to support a diagnostic review.
- Had a childhood diagnosis of ADHD and are reevaluating its validity.
Please note, while psychologists cannot prescribe medication, we can guide you through the assessment process. Should medication be considered necessary, we recommend scheduling
an appointment with a psychiatrist to discuss options further.

Understanding ADHD is pivotal. It's a developmental disorder impacting executive functioning, which involves regulating thoughts, behaviors, and emotions. ADHD presents in three main types:
- Inattentive type: Difficulty sustaining attention or staying organised.
- Hyperactive-impulsive type: Tendency to act impulsively or be overly active.
- Combined type: A mix of symptoms from both inattentive and hyperactive-impulsive types.

Recognising ADHD symptoms is crucial for seeking appropriate support. Common indicators in adults include difficulty concentrating, impulsivity, procrastination, and interpersonal
challenges.
Curious about the assessment process?
At Caterham Psychology, our approach is thorough and involves several stages:
A screening session: Cost $260. This would include relevant questionnaires (this would be sent to you prior to he appointment) and a clinical interview (1 hour).
If results from the initial questionaries did warrant further investigation of ADHD then a full comprehensive assessment would be completed and the $260 would be deducted from the total balance.
1 hour assessment session with the psychologist to conduct a diagnostic interview.
A 50-minute feedback session with the psychologist to review and discuss your assessment results, typically held about 2-3 weeks after the assessment session.
A diagnostic report from the psychologist detailing whether you meet the criteria for an ADHD diagnosis, usually provided at the feedback session.
Can the assessment be done via telehealth?
Yes, the assessment can be done entirely through telehealth, typically via a video call, or you can visit our Subiaco office for your appointment.
What is the cost of the assessment?
The fee for an ADHD assessment, whether for an adult or a
child, is $1450. This includes a diagnostic report. Please be aware that the full assessment fee must be paid within 7 days of scheduling your appointment.
Are Medicare rebates available for adult ADHD assessments?
No, Medicare rebates do not apply to ADHD assessments.
However, you may be eligible for a rebate from your private health insurer. We recommend reaching out to your health insurer for further details.
